It allows the driver to choose between different driving modes such as Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive, and sometimes additional modes like Sport or Low. The gear selector is usually a lever that can be moved between these different positions to control the transmission's gear selection. When the driver shifts into a particular gear, the transmission automatically engages the appropriate gear ratio based on the driving conditions. **

It could be due to low transmission fluid levels, a faulty transmission solenoid, a malfunctioning torque converter, or a problem with the transmission control module. It's important to have your vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic to diagnose and address the issue promptly to avoid further damage to the transmission. **
